Hazard – something that may cause harm or damage. Risk – the chance of it happening.	Category to help organise risks	Young people, Leaders, Visitors?	Controls – Ways of making the activity safer by removing or reducing the risk from it. For example - you might use a different piece of equipment or you might change the way the activity is carried out.	Keep checking throughout the activity in case you need to change it…or even stop it! This is a great place to add comments which will be used as part of the review.
Behaviour: overexcitement	Creative Zone	All Present	Pre-activity briefing will advise participants of the expectations for behaviour during the activity. Any participant unable to follow this, will have a discussion with the Leader in charge of safety who will decide if they are safe to continue. The Big Birthday Adventure code of conduct will be followed at all times. Expectations and rules for each part of the activity will be clearly explained by volunteers in charge of groups prior to any transition.
Strangulation	Creative Zone	All	Leader in charge will provide safety briefing prior to start of activity. String will be cut to appropriate lengths to ensure it is not likely to wrap around a neck. Young people will be reminded NOT to put string around their own or others necks, or tie around other body parts (such as wrists/fingers). Young people will be directly supervised by Group Leaders. Group Leaders will monitor behaviour and stop the activity if necessary. Scissors will be available to cut string off if necessary
Cuts (from scissors)	Creative Zone	All	Leader in charge of activity will provide a safety briefing prior to start of activity. Scissors appropriate for age of participants will be used. Scissors will be kept secured until they are required for the activity. YP will be directly supervised throughout the activity. First response is available for any small cuts, any significant scissor injuries will have pressure applied immediately and ScoutMed alerted.
