Hazard – something that may cause harm or damage. Risk – the chance of it happening.	Category to help organise risks	Young people, Leaders, Visitors?	Controls – Ways of making the activity safer by removing or reducing the risk from it. For example - you might use a different piece of equipment or you might change the way the activity is carried out.	Keep checking throughout the activity in case you need to change it…or even stop it! This is a great place to add comments which will be used as part of the review.
Behaviour: overexcitement	Creative Zone	All Present	Pre-activity briefing will advise participants of the expectations for behaviour during the activity. Any participant unable to follow this, will have a discussion with the Leader in charge of safety who will decide if they are safe to continue. The Big Birthday Adventure code of conduct will be followed at all times. Expectations and rules for each part of the activity will be clearly explained by volunteers in charge of groups prior to any transition.
Allergies	Creative Zone	All	Activity Coordinator will check YP for allergies prior to buying resources for the activity. Where possible, allergen free resources will be provided for ALL participants. Where this is not possible, allergen free resources will be provided for YP with identified allergies. Allergen free resources will be kept separate from other resources, and a separate area will be provided to limit cross contamination. Food safe gloves will be provided for Adults/YL in charge of the activity to limit cross contamination. YP with auto injectors will be identified at the start of the activity session and leader in charge of the activity will ensure they are carrying their auto injectors with them. YP with autoinjectors will be unable to take part in the activity until it has been confirmed their autoinjector is on their person. Should contact with allergen occur, care plan should be followed for individual YP. ScoutMed should be alerted immediately.
Choking	Creative Zone	Young People	Leader in Charge will provide a safety briefing prior to the start of the activity. YP will be supervised at all times during activity. YP should remain sitting while eating and not walking around. Should choking occur, Leaders should start First Response protocol for choking and ScoutMed should be immediately alerted.
Germs/Hygiene	Creative Zone	All	Leader in charge will provide safety briefing prior to start of activity. All YP, adults and YLs will ensure hands are washed or sanitised prior to start of activity. Activity leaders will wear food safe gloves when handling food. Hands must be re-washed/sanitised after any trip to toilet or touching floor etc.
